My first goal was to make technology part of my life. Back in June '10 I hit a low point. I signed up for the Summer Independent Study for Moodle/Google Apps. I couldn't get past the 3rd step and couldn't see a difference in the words Google, Edina Apps and the Moodle. I thought Tab referred to the key that moved the cursor not a bar for internet sites. Truthfully I didn't know how to take my computer out of the house and log on to a WiFi network. I felt like a dinosaur and I saw the Co-Hort as a way out of an era. I've discovered the tab bar! I have a system to bookmark my sites (my other 20% goal). Now I take my computer to the coffee shop while waiting around at my kid's tournaments and I have professional postings on all three sites Google, Edina Apps and the Moodle. Next phone upgrade will be a smart phone.
NETS*T Standards include to design and develop digital age learning experiences and "contempory tools". I had students use power points to enhance their demonstration speeches this week (nothing big). I've done demonstration speeches for years. I just never thought how a power point could make the experience so much more pleasurable for both the speaker and the listeners. Today I found myself suggesting to my colleague to use technology for his legends unit. I've never thought about technology before and now it's in my brain. NETS*T states that we engage in professional growth and leadership.Yep! I'm on my way. Granted I'm still the worst in our Tech-CoHort since you're such a talented bunch. Lucky for me I've learned a lot from you all. Thank you.
